Join the 4th annual Shurm Daddy Rec Ride! The SDRR is a memorial bike ride in honor of Brian Schuurman (AKA Shurm Daddy) and a local fundraising event dedicated to raising funds to support services related to depression, anxiety, and suicide prevention.
On July 16, 2017, area Grand Rapids bicycle enthusiasts will get together to ride, remember, and recognize those who struggle with these issues of mental health and wellbeing. There are two rides: A 13 mile leisure group bicycle ride for riders ages 12 and up, and a 30 mile challenge route for experienced distance group riders. All proceeds raised in rider registration and sponsorships will go to benefit the Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan, to help promote and sustain their programs.
The ride costs $10, and starts and ends at Spoke Folks in Downtown Grand Rapids (use the directions to Founders Brewing, then head south on Ellsworth and right/west on Logan). Spoke Folks is approximately 4 miles from the White Pine bike rack. We'll be leaving from the rack about an hour before the start of the ride, so come a little early if you'd like to ride with us!
We believe in the cause, and are taking part! Use code SHURM for $5 off your rental if you're renting the bike on July 16 to take part in the ride. (That will give you a little extra to donate to the cause!)
